Iruai Chardonnay 'Mineral Range' 2020
A rare alpine expression of the Chardonnay in California, Iruai's 'Mineral Range' channels the rocky acidity from the cool climate of the Shasta-Trinity wilderness. This unusual Chardo is characterized by notes of chamomile and other white flowers, ripe yellow apples, and a has round texture on the palate, but it isn't oaky. The winemakers recommend it "chilled in a pile of snow," paired with roasted steelhead trout and soba noodle salad. Yum.
Maison Noir 'Love Drunk' Rosé 2021
This pale Pacific Northwest rosé is composed from roughly 3/4 Chardonnay and 1/4 Pinot Noir; blending a little bit of red wine into a majority white wine is one technique for acquiring rosé's characteristic pink color. The fruit is from the Willamette Valley in Oregon; it's very light in body and tastes like dried flowers. Dry.
Stephen Ross San Luis Obispo Pinot Noir 2019
Medium-bodied, fancy-tasting Pinot Noir from California's Central Coast. Notes of ripe raspberry and cranberry overlay low-key dark cherry anddark chocolate, with interesting forest floor notes and rose petal. Soft on the palate, a bit of a coastal note, gentle acidity, and velvety texture. A crowd-pleasing example of California Pinot Noir.
